OUR STORY

It’s in our roots.

At our core, we’re farmers and foodies. We wanted a better way to create delicious and clean greens - without using acres of land, thousands of gallons of water, and nasty pesticides. So we built our first Hammock Greens farm inside of a shipping container.

After a few years of blood, sweat, and greens, Hammock Greens has expanded into 11 farms - and we’re just getting started. We are on a mission to become South Florida’s top provider of superior, hyper-local greens.

 

MEET THE TEAM

Thomas Smitherman, CGO (Chief Greens Officer)

Founder and farmer, Thomas brings decades of experience in the food sales and marketing world. An entrepreneur at heart, he started this business from an inspired daydream in a hammock and a belief that “money should never stand in the way of your dreams.”

Ron McKay,

Co-Founder & Strategic Leadership

Ron brings extensive experience in the areas of investor relations, sales & marketing, big data and compliance, product roll-out and company administration.

A serial entrepreneur, Ron has been a "solutions" provider all his life. "Solutions are easy, monetizing is challenging, making a business from the solution is the reward."

 

 

Marc Wiener | VP OF SALES

Marc is prolific in horticulture, soil engineering, plant propagation and water conservation management. Marc’s 30-year career has encompassed design, sales, and implementation of large scale commercial and residential landscape construction projects. In 2010, Marc’s focus shifted from construction to the Ag-Tech / Sustainability Industry; understanding that the future of Agriculture was an ever-changing landscape and is at the core, his passion. Marc’s innovative concepts and know-how is a great fit for Hammock Greens.  Additionally, Additionally, Marc brings a unique network of clients, business associates and colleagues that are invaluable relationships and personifies success in the global Agri-Tech Industry.  

 

David da Costa | Horticulture Engineer & Food Safety Manager

David brings extensive knowledge from decades of experience in the Food and Beverage, Sales and Business worlds. He has a degree in chemical engineering from Nova Scotia and a certification in Good Agricultural Practices through Cornell University. David is a greens whisperer, he uses his expertise to produce our perfect leafy greens.
